Sophia had been my dad's nurse for a couple of days. Dad was having a bad day. He didn't feel good and did not want to take the doctor's recommendations. When the opportunity presented itself, Sophia explained to my dad that the team was just trying to make him feel better. Every time she came into his room, she was upbeat and positive. Sophia's brilliance and compassion were evident all day. During the shift change, Sophia shared with me that she spoke with Dad's evening nurses and told them about Dad's day and it was obvious that the shift report was about my dad the "person," not the cranky patient. I have heard how important sharing information when handing off a patient is. Obviously, it takes two people. Sophia shared the information with the next nurse, and the next nurse was set up for success. I will be grateful for Sophia's care until the day I die. Well done!
