December 2024 Honoree
Sophia Layman, RN
I was recently admitted after a total hysterectomy. I had this procedure due to multiple ovarian tumors. Sophia was my nurse the day I came in for surgery, and she was phenomenal. She took the time to decorate my room with familiar photos which meant so much to me. This was just a small act of kindness that meant so much to me. My husband was having a really hard time tackling the thought of me having a possible cancer diagnosis at the age of 25. Sophia took the time to sit and talk through her worries and comfort my husband during such a difficult time. Being a nurse myself, I truly understand how busy it can get, so her taking those moments to reassure my family means the whole world. Sophia was also my nurse when I was discharged. She thoroughly reviewed all my education and made sure I knew what to expect transitioning home. I just cannot say enough how genuine and compassionate Sophia was during my hospitalization. Although she feels it is just her job, she deserves recognition for going above and beyond!
Thank you, Sophia, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
