Sophia was nominated by a patient for saving her unborn son's life. She discovered the cord wrapped around the baby's neck during delivery and was quick to get the doctor there for an emergency C-section. The baby's father recounted the story of Sophia flipping the mother over on the bed and holding the cord away from the baby's neck all while rushing to the OR. "Sophia stayed with me to avoid losing him," the mother said. "Our son would not have made it to the world if she had not been there. She went above and beyond to save his life. We will one day tell our son how she saved him." The patient went on to describe how Sophia stood out from the moment she walked in the room and how lucky MMH is to have her on staff. "She is forever in our hearts," the mother said. "We will never forget her."
Sophia is described by her peers as a great leader and team player. They say she has an amazing smile and inspirational soul. Sophia's director says her smile lights up the room. "Sophia always puts patients first and does her absolute best each and every time. We are blessed to have Sophia on our team."
