Sophie was the calming presence that I needed at that time.
I was admitted to the hospital for the birth of my daughter. About an hour later, she entered the world, and about 30 minutes after that, I almost exited. I suffered from a postpartum hemorrhage and lost a significant amount of blood, resulting in an emergency blood transfusion. Thanks to the amazing care team I had, I recovered fully and will be recounting this story for many years to come at every one of my daughter's birthdays. :) While my entire care team was incredible, there was one nurse that really stood out to me. Once things had settled down and my postpartum care resumed as usual, Sophie was the calming presence that I needed at that time. Being in such a vulnerable situation, such as childbirth and the recovery that comes after it, can make many moms uncomfortable, but Sophie did such a wonderful job at always making me feel as comfortable as possible. She was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. Even though she was very pregnant herself, she never allowed that to hinder her ability to care for me during my time of need (although it would have been understandable if she had).
