I expressed my concerns to her about my mom's decline, and her taking the time to listen and be present meant so much to my family and me.
It was my mom’s second time in the hospital. Sosefina wasn’t our nurse this time, but she said she noticed her name on the board and wanted to check in on us. She was my mom’s nurse during a previous admission. This time, my mom was doing worse and had declined since she was last there. She caught me in the hall and asked how my mom and I were doing. I was extremely overwhelmed with emotions and started crying. Sosefina stood there, listened, and hugged me while I vented and cried.cIt was so nice to just express all my emotions to her without feeling judged. Her empathy and compassion are most admired. As I said, she wasn’t even our nurse that day. I know the hospital was short-staffed, too. She went above and beyond that day for my mom, my family, and myself. She checked in on us throughout the day and made sure any of our needs were met. Sosefina even took the time to explain things that were not clear to my family and me. She was very patient and did not make us feel rushed or that she had no time. When I think of St. Mary’s, I will always remember Sosefina. I am proud that she was my mom’s nurse and my only hope of having a nurse like her anytime my family or I are in the hospital.

***

Sosefina is an amazing teacher and always takes the time out of her busy day to explain everything to her students. She is very professional with her patients and is a very hardworking nurse who rarely sits down. And always doing what is best for her patients. All her patients are always well taken care of and always comfortable.

Sosefina helped make an embarrassing situation bearable. She helped me walk to the bathroom, held me up, and assisted me in a chair when I felt like I could not walk anymore. She called for assistance so I could get the help I needed. They said my blood pressure was low. She cleaned me up and my bed, assuring me that I was in good hands and care. I truly believe that and am thankful.
