Soumyamol Sleeba is a staff nurse from C1 Pediatric Hematology, Oncology is commended for her diligence and vigilance as a nurse. Soumya, prevented a number of ‘near misses’ which could have potentially led to patient harm. Her significant ‘Good Catch’ included discovering ketamine 40 mg injection, a potent general anesthetic, ordered as STAT with the patient’s discharge medication (did not reach the patient), and receiving a patient from another unit with a running IV of electrolytes that had the wrong concentration. Fortunately, this error was captured early, and the additional labs ordered to monitor the patient’s condition were normal. Soumya saved lives through the C1 Good Catch Initiative!
