SrA Giarusso consistently exceeds the expectations of both the staff and patients around her. She has stepped-up on the challenging task of innovating a technician led check-in and recovery process for ophthalmology patients which has ultimately led to their recovery time to being slashed by 50%. The patients have recognized her as "excellent-comforted wife and made her feel safe/informed". These characteristics of SrA Gia don't stop at the bedside but encompass her as a leader in her unit as she's precepted and mentored 3 new unit staff members and is the daily go-to person when something is needed. She is always willing to go the extra mile evidenced by providing a last minute gap-fill to a sister unit thus ensuring coworkers were able to get leave and the mission was not sacrificed. All these things and more are why we are nominating SrA Giarusso for the Daisy Award as she is certainly the most deserving.
