Stacey is a night shift NOM (nursing supervisor). This is a very difficult role as the NOM is faced with many challenges during the night, which she must handle on her own. One night, there was a patient who was dying on one of the nursing units. The staff called the husband to come to his wife's bedside. The elderly husband was unable to come due to lack of transportation. The staff were upset and told Stacey about this situation. She quietly took the husband's phone number and called him. With his permission, Stacey sent an UBER to pick up this patient's husband so he could be at his wife's bedside during her last moments. She did this on her own without mentioning the act. The staff knew about what Stacey had done and told me about it. When I spoke to Stacey, she was very humble and stated that she just wanted the patient and her husband to be together. This was a selfless, kind act, which is why she is a true DAISY Nurse.
