Stacey Lopez, MSN, RN
It is my honor to nominate Stacey Lopez for the DAISY Award for Nurse Leaders in recognition of her extraordinary compassion, creativity, and unwavering commitment to serving others.
Stacey consistently goes above and beyond in ways that leave a lasting impact on both patients and colleagues. Most recently, she dedicated significant time and care to supporting a 15-year-old PICU patient who has endured more trauma in her young life than most could imagine. During one of their visits, the patient casually shared that she had never been to a movie theater. For many, that may have been a passing comment. For Stacey, it became a mission.
Without hesitation, Stacey turned “someday” into reality.
Through her initiative and collaboration with IT, Marketing, and Chef Miguel, Stacey transformed City Hall into a true movie theater experience designed entirely around this patient. Every detail was thoughtfully planned to create a magical and memorable afternoon. Stacey brought authentic movie theater popcorn from the theater itself, along with the patient’s favorite candy and drinks. The “big screen” experience was brought to life inside City Hall, giving this young patient the chance to experience something many people take for granted — the joy and wonder of going to the movies for the very first time.
What makes Stacey exceptional is not only her ability to think outside the box, but her genuine heart for people. She recognizes opportunities to bring hope, comfort, and a sense of normalcy to patients facing unimaginable circumstances. Her creativity, empathy, and servant leadership inspire everyone around her.
This was not simply a movie day. It was a reminder to a young patient that she matters, that she is seen, and that people are willing to go the extra mile to create moments of joy during difficult times.
Stacey routinely demonstrates this level of dedication with “out of this world” ideas and acts of kindness that positively impact patients, families, and coworkers alike. She embodies the very spirit of the DAISY Award through her compassion, innovation, teamwork, and selfless service.
For all of these reasons, I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition than Stacey Lopez.
