Stacey was caring for a patient in CVICU who had attempted suicide by taking over ninety blood pressure medications. Stacey was able to develop a strong relationship with the patient's family and carefully explained plan of care and patient's prognosis.

One particular shift, Stacey was scheduled to work 7-3. As it turned out, by 3pm, CVICU did not have a secretary, was short a nurse, and had 3 fresh surgery patients on the way. Stacey decided to stay on until 7p to care for this patient and their family.

She continued to work very hard, caring for the patient and trying to keep her stabilized on multiple drips. When these efforts were not successful, she was there for the family as they made the decision to withdraw care.

She remained with them as the patient passed away. The family was so grateful for her consistent care and kindness.
