Staci was one of the first nurses that we met after my granddaughter was flown to ACH PICU. Staci was so sweet and gentle with our granddaughter. She had experienced a seizure which led to cardiac arrest and brain damage. Needless to say, we were freaking out. I jumped with each new buzzer or alarm. Staci calmly explained the one rule when visiting "her" kids in the PICU: "You can only freak out if I'm freaking out." It doesn't sound like much, but because of the level of calm and professionalism that she had, it meant a lot to this panicked and devasted grandma. Staci was so knowledgeable and took time to explain the tubes and medications to us. She told us a little about what we could expect in the coming days while carefully not giving false hope or raising alarm. This was all wonderful, but the biggest, most significant thing to me was the sweet way she spoke to my granddaughter. Anytime she gave a med, moved a tube, turned my granddaughter, or simply passed by the bed to check a machine, Staci would tell my granddaughter what she was doing. Although her eyes were closed must of the time, Staci still talked to her. She was reassuring to her and that comfort was felt by my granddaughter and all of us. She even helped bathe her and gently styled her hair so that it wouldn't become tangled in the back. Staci went above and beyond in every way. As the days in PICU turned into over a week, she stopped by to check in. I'm so grateful to her and for her. During our 2 month stay, we met a lot of super nurses, but our entire positive experience at ACH was started by the kindness and knowledge of Staci in the very beginning.

Because she goes above and beyond to make sure our son is taken very good care of and double checks things if we have concerns and explains things in ways we understand when we have question.
