I was admitted by ambulance to the ER Sept 2nd, 2015. The doctor told me I would have to stay in the hospital. It was approximately 4 AM. I was shocked and told him "but I have a little dog at home! I need to take her to my vet for the duration of my stay!" He said he could not legally stop me but there is a chance you could die from your symptoms if you do that.
I didn't know what to do, I was not prepared to die yet!
Staci was helping the doctor with me and immediately, without any hesitation said "I will go and get your dog and take it to the vet." How great was that? We were complete strangers. I took her up on it since at 4 AM I could not call another friend.
She said "give me directions, I get off at 7AM," which was perfect since the vet's office opens at 7AM.
I told her where the hidden front door key was and gave other instructions for the leash, diagrammed the condo and the address. She took Lucy to the Vet and then left me a message that it was accomplished.
Staci lives in Tacoma, so after working a long night shift, she went back on the freeway to Dupont, then drove to Lakewood to the vet's office, and finally went home.
I trusted her because she told me she had dogs, and as anyone knows- anyone who owns a dog is a good, kind person and Staci is the perfect example of this. She definitely went beyond the call of duty and deserves the DAISY Award!
