Stacie inserted herself into the tense situation and put her arm around the young adolescent and asked her to walk with her to get some help.
I wanted to report to you about Stacie Marrero, RN, going above for a potential patient that was arriving for evaluation at the Bradley Center. Stacie was in the back office and heard people yelling outside our building in the public road. She went to investigate and found that the yelling was from outside in the middle of an intersection. She found an adolescent and parents having an alteration while trying to seek psychiatric care for the adolescent. It was cold and pouring rain so Stacie got her umbrella and went outside to lend her assistance. A teenager was laying in the road and her parents were trying to pick up her flailing body and place her in the truck so they could get her evaluated at the Bradley Center. There was much commotion between the parents and the teen. So Stacie inserted herself into the tense situation and put her arm around the young adolescent and asked her to walk with her to get some help. The teen complied and Stacie was able to diffuse the parental and teen situation and walk the girl to the Bradley Center. Stacie stayed with the young girl and got her a blanket and assured her that she would get the much-needed help she would need at the Bradley Center. She stayed with the patient until she was able to receive care. This was a very intense encounter in which she placed herself for the health and welfare of the adolescent and her parents. Stacie used her nursing skills to assess the situation and showed her compassion and care for the emotional and physical health of the adolescent.
