July 2026 Honoree
Stacy Biss, RN
I am honored to nominate Stacy for the DAISY Award for her exceptional nursing care, compassion, and clinical skill. Over the last year, I have had multiple visits, and during several critical moments in my life and my child’s, Stacy consistently demonstrated professionalism, empathy, and calm leadership that made an enormous difference to our experience and outcomes.
Last year, while I was pregnant and required frequent IVs, Stacy found a vein on the first attempt every time — a small thing that made a huge difference in my comfort and anxiety. When my PICC line became infected, Stacy advocated for my care, ensured I received appropriate treatment, and coordinated follow-up care. Each visit afterward, whenever Stacy was working, she greeted me with warmth and a smile, checked that all my needs were met, and made a stressful process feel manageable.
When I had to be transferred to a larger hospital during this process, Stacy explained the situation clearly and supported my family through the transition. Most recently, Stacy cared for my 11-month-old in the ER when his oxygen level was dangerously low. She got us into a room immediately, began interventions and orders without delay, and remained calm and collected even when the situation was frightening. Stacy not only cared expertly for my son, but she also supported me as a mom the entire time. Stacy demonstrates teamwork and professionalism by working well with the entire care team. By coordinating with providers, pharmacists, and other nurses to ensure safe, seamless care. Her clear communication and reliable follow-through improve efficiency and patient safety during high-stress situations.
Stacy's care has had a lasting impact on my family's well-being. She not only contributed to positive clinical outcomes but also helped keep our emotional resilience during repeated medical challenges. Every time we left the hospital, I felt informed, supported, and confident in the care plan because of Stacy's presence. Stacy exemplifies the best qualities of nursing — clinical excellence, clear communication, advocacy, and genuine compassion. Her presence turned frightening moments into ones where we felt safe, heard, and truly cared for. I cannot think of a more deserving nurse for the DAISY Award than Stacy.
