A recent patient shared a story and wanted to say thank you to one nurse in particular, and make sure she was recognized. The young patient recently had a baby less than 2 weeks ago and was admitted for an unexpected surgery. She told the assistant nurse manager that the night before surgery she was in terrible pain. The medications ordered were not even touching it. She was missing her baby and her husband who was home caring for the baby. Throughout the night while making rounds, Stacy heard her patient crying. She entered the room and sat down near the bed. The patient leaned into Stacy and hugged her while crying. Stacy let this continue until the patient was calmed down and was able to sleep. That's what made the patient experience above and beyond.
