Nurses are known for having compassionate hearts, but Stacy Cox’s heart for all patients who are struggling financially, mentally, emotionally, physically, or spiritually - is one of the largest that I have witnessed as a nurse. She has a passion for helping others far beyond our constraints as a hospital. We have all seen Stacy take the homeless clothes home to wash and bring back clean, purchase items that the homeless patient may need, or sit at the bedside to listen to a troubled soul through her lunch. Stacy Cox has been in my office many times, visually upset by a patient situation, and she asks the hard questions that, most of the time, I cannot answer. Post covid, we are living in a world that has changed and is still hurting. Stacy Cox continues to be a bedside nurse because she wants to help the HURT and does so to the best of her ability with her resources, her time, or her voice.

Humankindness is a catchphrase that is used often, but Stacey Cox embodies this term, and she reaches out to our suicide attempts, our homeless patients, and our drug/alcohol abusing patients.  She spends time with them, talks to them, and makes them feel valued regardless of their situation.
 
With Stacy Cox, it is the combination of many acts, not just one large one, that makes her a true DAISY Nurse.
