Stacy Gibson, RN

We had a teenage patient who was staying on our unit for a few days and was having some mental health issues, specifically struggling with his emotions during that time. Stacy was assigned to be his sitter for a 12-hour shift. This can be a long, taxing day for anyone; Stacy not only had a great attitude about it but she really spent the day getting to know him and by the end of the shift the two had really connected. By the end of the day, we all saw him smiling and joking (which was a big difference from the days before). His parents were not able to be present when he received some challenging news, but he took it in stride, and I think that is a direct reflection of the support he had from Stacy. She went above and beyond that day and was exactly what he needed!
