Stacy is an amazing leader because of her ability to connect with her staff and the patients on her unit. Stacy had connected with a patient who frequently was admitted to her unit. This patient had advanced dementia and on one particular stay, the patient's condition was declining and all the patient wanted was to see her dog (who had long passed). Stacy had a dog who looked similar to the patient’s dog. So Stacy brought in her dog to bring comfort to this patient in her last days. This made the patient so happy. Stacy also connected with a patient who frequents Duluth. This patient has a demeanor that makes it difficult to see past. Not so for Stacy, Stacy saw the fear and sadness in this patient. Stacy went out of her way, to make this patient comfortable while in the hospital and also would stop by the patient's home to check on her.
