First I want to say that I am truly blessed to be able to be here among some of the most outstanding professionals that I have ever seen work together. These fine men and women have done their best from the second that I entered the building. The respect and empathy displayed toward me are heartfelt and I could never really put into words my gratefulness.

This was my first hospital stay and major surgery. I am a 43-year-old male. I work in a bakery for the last 26 years. I rarely ever miss a day of work outside of scheduled vacation days, months maybe even as far back as a year I would guess I was getting headaches here and there and I would take a couple of Excedrin and be fine. The months went on and as I recall this the headaches became more than once in a while to weekly but weren't that severe so I still just passed it up to maybe stress and working environment. They got worse and then I began talking to my doctor about it.

We realized that I had high blood pressure and that may be the cause of the headaches. I was prescribed some medication and started on them. Little time passed and my head was still hurting. Follow-up with the doctor went towards allergies as a possible reason for the head pain so we tried allergy meds too. Time went by, no relief. The doctor said it's ENT time so I went to them. By this time months have passed, the pain got worse and I was a mess.

Doctor Adelson met with me in his office and immediately did a biopsy of my sinus cause he saw something of concern with his scope. I was in tears from the pain and was at my wit's end. The biopsy came back positive for squamous cell carcinoma, problem found. The ball started rolling pretty fast from that moment forward. Surgery was set but more scans showed some spots in my chest which were biopsied for cancer as well. The chest came back negative! And a new surgery date was set a month out.

Here I am writing this in my room surrounded by angels. Thank you to everyone on this whole experience, 4 North Oncology, Everyone! It is because of people like you that I get a chance to see my son grow, bake another loaf of bread and enjoy what life has to offer. Thank you all so much!
