Beginning training, everyone on this unit gave me whatever information might be helpful and necessary for my success. From Theresa, who was influential in making my first day full of information and even wisdom from personal experience to Heather who wrote down abbreviations I would frequently hear and really took time to see what areas I needed more help in. Everyone has been there to assist me, demonstrate for me, and observe and affirm me as I learned and applied what I learned. They constantly made sure I was comfortable and didn’t need anything in general. They calmed every fear I may have had as I embark on this new journey in a new field simply by being present and being amazing at what they do! I have to say a special thank you to Heather. Throughout my training, I dealt with many different family issues and she was every bit supportive as I pressed through. As my designated preceptor, she truly helped me feel prepared, confident, and at home in my new role. To the PCTs who stepped in and took on the role of training me when I worked on days that Heather was not here. Thank you. You may not have expected to have me a part of your shift, and everyone accepted me and did their best to make sure I did not feel alone or inadequate. The nurses, who have remained patient and communicative as I find my place as a PCT, thank you. It is truly our duty to work together to bring health cna healing to our patients and you all have been more than helpful from those with whom I only shared a smile or short greeting to those I had the privilege and opportunity to assist in serving our patients. I know that 5 East is exactly where I am supposed to be as you all have truly made me feel at home. Last but certainly not least important, I would like to express my gratitude to the amazing manager of our 5 East family, Theresa. An amazing woman of God who not only lives what she believes but she inspires others to also believe. To believe that they are capable, to believe that they are loved and accepted, and to believe that no matter what, there is light at the end of the tunnel. She displays her faith by providing opportunities, being present for those she is responsible for leading, and going above and beyond every day even in the smallest things. My sentiments have been confirmed since I’ve been here by the many people who express their admiration and appreciation for a manager such as her. We are truly blessed and favored to have the leadership, team, and opportunity to serve here at Ascension Macomb on the 5th floor in the East wing. The work we do as individuals is needed and the force we are as a collective is powerful. Very happy to be a part. Thank you all!

All the staff on 5E are patient oriented. They have the patient over themselves mentally. They deserve this award. I have not told anyone that I am an RN and I have been treated so well and equally as anyone else. They are so timely to all my needs. The team is so authentic and amazing. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else for my care. I have never been treated so well and it has been a pleasure being a patient here. The staff works so well together and it shows. I spilled my coffee and many staff members came to my aid and didn’t make me feel bad. Patient-focused is what this team displays. Thank you to all who have cared for me.

I would like to say thank you to all employees, they were all outstanding. Everyone from housekeeping, nurses, aids, PAs, or anyone you pass in the hallway. Always said hi and asked if I needed anything. I’ve been in the hospital a few times and I can honestly say that this has been the best experience I’ve ever had. Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding! The staff goes out of their way to check on you and do everything they can to help with the pain after surgery. They truly take their time with the patients.

I have been in the orthopedic unit for over 5 days and the experience has been extraordinary. I came here with a broken hip and a lot of pain. I will be leaving today. Feeling like I am leaving a family. Every person that has had anything to do with my care has been great. I feel like I’ve been treated like a king. If there is a better group of nurses and aides it’s got to be in heaven. I just want to say thank you from the depths of my heart. I just can’t pick one person, they were all amazing. I will keep you all in my prayers

Kindness, thoughtfulness, attention to my needs, extra care and support, and very knowledgeable. This team has taken such great care of me, helped me to understand things that I couldn’t at the time comprehend, and helped me with the easing of my mind on the transition to the nursing rehab center. This team has love and devotion to their patients and to one another no matter what time of day or night, someone would be there. I will miss this team and keep you all in my heart. I will never forget any of you. Thank you and love to you all. When I was in pain or confused or just needed someone to talk to, there was always someone there lending me the time. I cannot just pick one nurse; I feel they all deserve to be recognized for being in a profession that is not always glamorous or acknowledged. Thank you.
