We met Star as we moved up from the ER to the pediatric wing, facing the dread of my daughter's third surgery in 9 weeks. We were tired and scared and for each of the three nights we spent on our most recent visit, Star showed us exceptional care and compassion. She knew that my teenage daughter could not be easily distracted, that she was exhausted from the ups and downs of a broken leg that just wouldn't heal. She was truly like an angel who saw our fear on the first night, my daughter's terrible pain after surgery, again, on the second night, and our relief at a medication plan she worked hard to create that gave us rest on the third night. My daughter and I were so comforted each night by her gentleness and optimism and it made all the difference as we hope for a full recovery.
