Starlyn Meitzler truly deserves the DAISY Award for reasons of why I believe what makes a stellar nurse. She has a heart meant to care for the sick and she is very attentive and pays attention to every detail of her patient's needs. She is one of those nurses I will never forget, RN Starlyn. She has heart, determination, an optimistic personality and is totally focused on all her patients. She cares about every single patient she has and solely works hard toward their success in getting them to perfect health. She has an impact on every patient she cares for and she will always be remembered. An award such as this was made for her. Determined, Attentive, Inspiring, Selfless, You, Mrs. Starlyn.
I was a nurse for 40 years and Starlyn reminded me of how real old-fashioned nursing was. She really went above and beyond what she had to do. She made time at the bedside, which is hard to do today with all the computer work. She took my brother's son aside to tell him what my sick brother had said about him, making sure my nephew heard his father's final words. After traveling all night to get to the hospital, she brought us refreshments. My brother's health condition came as a complete shock to me. This resulted in having to become a patient in the ED myself. To my surprise, Starlyn came down to the ED to check on me and really helped me to recover from the shock. She also checked on me again after her shift was over. Words cannot express my gratitude to Starlyn. I hope to come back one day to see Starlyn in person to let her know what a beautiful gift she was to my family.
