Mrs. Belmer’s bedside manners are exemplary. She is one of the friendliest people that I know and she always arrives with a smile on her face and a happy greeting for our staff. Mrs. Belmer also has an ability to communicate effectively with all of her coworkers. She will keep me informed if there are any changes to my patients’ catheterization schedule. Oftentimes patients have been NPO since midnight and waiting all day for cath. Mrs. Belmer will let me know if patients can eat a little breakfast beforehand and vice versa. It might not mean much but for patients, it means a lot to them, or just by letting me know that the procedure might be canceled because patients’ creatinine is still elevated. Once I told patients this little piece of information they become a lot more understanding of what’s happening. They don’t feel like they were starved all day all night and suddenly the procedure is canceled.
Her willingness to assist others and her commitment to educating CSCU nurses are unequaled. Staff members from CSCU have all noted that Mrs. Belmer is thorough and provides great service and she consistently follows through. Many times I am not familiar with a particular procedure and she always takes her time to explain them to me in great detail. It is with great pleasure that I respectfully submit this nomination for Mrs. Belmer to be recognized for the DAISY Award.
