Stefanie recently spent several days caring for a very critically ill patient who had an adult, cognitively-impaired daughter. Stefanie spent her days caring for her daughter as well as the patient. The family was present when she passed away. Even though Stefanie was not assigned to that patient that day, the daughter searched and found Stefanie, hugged her and said, "My mom went to heaven. Thank you for taking care of her. You were her favorite nurse." Stefanie replied, "It was my privilege to care for your mother" as tears came down her face. It was obvious this family had touched Stefanie as much as she had touched them.
