Stella Collins has been my nurse since starting my treatment for AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). In the clinic, the patients are often very sick or just received new and difficult diagnoses. Stella always does her best to make her patients feel at ease. She has a wonderful way of making a stressful situation calming. She is the ultimate professional and caregiver but has the humor and constant positive attitude that helps the stress of the situation be bearable. I have witnessed several interactions between Stella and her colleagues. She always handles the situation in a professional manner. Watching her handle these situations it gives me and other patients confidence in our treatments. Coming for our treatments is very stressful but knowing how Stella handles the instructions from MD, Oncology-Hematology Cancer Care Center, gives me confidence that I am getting the very best treatment.

Another example of the professional care Stella gives her patients just happened to me this week. She started the critical process of infusion of two units of blood, but before the second unit was started her usual time to go home had arrived. Stella communicated with the evening nurses to have the proper equipment in the room in which I was moved. Knowing how critical the stopping and starting another unit of blood, Stella stayed and started the second unit and communicated with the evening nurses before she left her shift. Stella Collins is the type of nurse every hospital should be striving to hire. She makes a difference in the care of patients while they are in the hospital. She is a credit to her family and your hospital.
