The nomination letter, written by a parent of one of Brackey’s infant patients, thanked her for “her demeanor that captured their emotions and put them in a state of trust and calmness.” The parent goes on to say, “Throughout our stay, she was extremely proactive on the night shift, coming in every hour to check our baby’s IV without us having to call about beeping machines.” They remembered, “There were a few times when we could actually go to sleep, and she came in without waking us up and did everything she had to do in the dark.” They go on to say, “I just thought that exemplified that she really likes her job and made me feel she genuinely cared. She was just exceptional in all aspects she could have been. Especially for a nurse working the night shift and having other patients, she made us feel like we were the only people there.”
