I was pulled to another unit and Stephanee was pulled there too. We instantly connected and we were helping each other out since we were both slightly unfamiliar with the floor. Around 6 pm (an hour prior to the end of shift) I received a phone call about my son being injured. I was in tears and frantic. The nurses that worked on that unit seemed unsure of what to do and Stephanee stepped right in. She isn't even a nurse that regularly works on that unit. But she took all of my patients and told me to leave.
It was incredible that amount of compassion she showed as a nurse and as a selfless person. It wasn't something she had to do, but she did it anyway- even if that meant she had to stay extra-long that evening to give a report on 8 patients. She did not mind. She did this because of the type of person she is, caring, loving, empathic, and kind. She embodies this same behavior every time with coworkers and her patients. When I mentioned her name and what she did that day to my coworkers, it was the consensus. Everyone agreed she is a sweetheart, the best most kind nurse, and the person we would want to takecare of us.
