Stephanie ensured our daughter had the most magical bath experience, with the entire family present, bathing her, showing her big siblings how to wash her gently, and combing her hair.
We were there for the birth of our daughter, but she was going to gain her angel wings shortly after. As anyone could imagine, we were numb and on a rollercoaster of emotions—feeling excited, defeated, angry, sad, and grateful, among other things—while trying to be present for ourselves and our children, who were about to meet their little sister. Then, in walks Stephanie, a little bit of light in all this darkness. She felt like family, like a best friend who just jumped in to do your laundry and lay in bed with you to watch your favorite chick flick. She cried genuine tears with us for our daughter and exuded a level of compassion we’d never experienced before. She changed and swaddled our daughter with the utmost love as if the baby were her own. Stephanie helped get the baby ready with my husband for photos and positioned her when he needed a moment. She dove right into arts and crafts with the big siblings and let my husband and me take in the moment. I came prepared with all the keepsakes, and she made sure nothing was forgotten, even tracking down paint so we could have everyone’s handprints to hang in our home. Stephanie ensured our daughter had the most magical bath experience, with the entire family present, bathing her, showing her big siblings how to wash her gently, and combing her hair. And then, of course, helping them put on a diaper, the moment they had been waiting for the last nine months. Her empathetic heart didn’t stop once the night wound down. She checked on us and popped into our room in the following days, even taking a moment to enjoy a few minutes of ‘A Christmas Story’ with us. Stephanie made us feel a bit more normal and human and not just ‘the family with a dead baby’; she very much made it ‘the family with the beautiful angel with the littlest hands and feet.'
