Stephanie is a compassionate nurse who truly has sympathy for her patients, she makes me feel safe and cared for during my infusions.
I am currently receiving IVIG treatments for my compromised immune system, gastrointestinal problems, and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. I also have new daily persistent headache a constant 24/7 headache that has not left me for over 8 1/2 years. I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome as well, which caused me to have a cranial spinal fusion. So, having a good nurse for my infusions is very important to me because I have a lot of fear about things that can go wrong, especially with my condition. But my nurse Stephanie puts my mind at ease.
I have had several nurses come to do my infusions, and she is by far the best and the most professional of them. I consistently request her to come back and do my treatments. Not only does she do everything to the T, but she is also very friendly and easy to talk to. I feel very close to Stephanie; like she is one of my friends and someone I get along with very well. I am often tired when I have my infusions and I fall asleep, but I’m able to rest easy knowing she has everything under control. She keeps a very close eye on me making sure to watch my breathing, taking my vital signs, and makes sure to remind me to take my medication on time.
She always shows up to my doorstep on time and ready to go. My infusions can sometimes take 10 hours from start to finish because I go at a really slow rate, and with Stephanie, I never feel rushed. She’s always willing to take the extra time that’s needed to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible for me. Stephanie is a compassionate nurse who truly has sympathy for her patients, she makes me feel safe and cared for during my infusions. I nominate Stephanie for the DAISY Award because she brings light and hope to a very difficult time in my life. My father passed away this August which brought a lot of stress and grieving. I was able to open up and talk to Stephanie about this tragic period in my life. She provided support and comfort, helping me get through this situation and making it easier for me to handle my infusions while dealing with this hurdle. I don’t know what I would do without her, and I appreciate her to the moon and back.
