I started your EECP program on May 11th. I am from Bedford, Virginia, a small town outside Lynchburg. My doctor asked me to look into EECP and see what I thought. I soon found that very few places anywhere close to Bedford offered this service. I called for information here and spoke to Stephanie Ashby and she was full of information and very upbeat about your program. I called a few more options after that but no one made the impression Stephanie did. She also told me about the Hurst House and helped me to be able to use that wonderful option.
I have had to drive 3-1/2 hours up the beginning of every week and 3-1/2 hours back each Friday. I would have had 1 hour of treatment that needed to be done on Monday, June 6th to complete the program. That would have meant 7 hours of driving time for me to complete 1 hour of treatment. Stephanie offered to come in on Memorial Day for 1 hour to do the treatment for me so I could save that 7 hours of driving. Keep in mind that it had been raining for two weeks prior and this was the first weekend without rain to spend outside with her family, not to mention that it was a national holiday.
I accepted her offer and had that hour of treatment. I offered her my and my wife's thanks for taking her personal time to save me time on the road. She would not hear of it and said that any good nurse would have done that.
Note: This is Stephanie's second DAISY Award!
