Stephanie Ballard, BSN, RN

Stephanie is the main charge nurse for outpatient surgery. She covers both pre- and post-surgical patients, as well as endoscopy. Stephanie is a nurse who arrives every day with a smile on her face and ready to work. She is always willing to jump in and assist her coworkers to ensure the unit continues to run smoothly and stay on time. Recently, we had a shift with multiple call-offs, and Stephanie agreed to work on her day off to ensure safe patient-to-staff ratios. Stephanie always takes her lunch last; this way, all her coworkers can get a full, uninterrupted lunch while she covers their patients. This past Sunday, we received an EPIC chat message from a physician stating that a patient needed a special procedure done. Knowing we had little time available, Stephanie agreed she would help with the procedure first thing Monday morning. To make sure the room was ready, she came in again on her day off to gather all the supplies. This was her going above and beyond for the patient, and the patient was discharged later that day. If the procedure had been delayed, the patient would have spent another night in the hospital.
