My first several hours at Henry Ford were pretty much a blur. Aside from the pain and the fear I was experiencing, this was also my first time being admitted to a hospital in 49 years. So needless to say, I was thoroughly confused. I remember being repeatedly stabbed with needles, examined, poked and prodded, rolled over, and repeat… I initially felt like people were talking at me and over me more than to me. Nurse Stephanie was the first person to change this cycle. It was her professional, practical approach and comforting, respectful bedside manner that made me feel comfortable in the most uncomfortable environment I had ever been in during my 49 years. I honestly felt that I was being cared for by a member of my family. Thank you, Stephanie, for getting me through this!
