Unfortunately, my wife has been a patient of Valley Hospital too often and each time, she has received excellent care from the nursing staff. They are attentive and caring, but every once in a while, there is that one nurse that goes above and beyond, and that is Stephanie. I wish I could tell you the one thing that stood out about Stephanie, but I cannot. Everything she did, from saying hello to clearing my wife’s airway, to administering my wife’s medicine, she did with genuine enthusiasm, caring, and compassion. From the second she came into the room to the time she left, she made us feel that there was nothing more important than the care of my wife. No request was trivial, no question was silly. She would hold my wife’s hand and explain in detail everything she was going to do step by step, making sure we understood everything that was going to happen. Even when Stephanie was not assigned as our nurse, she would still come in and check on us to see if we needed anything and how we were doing. With all the demands that are made of nurses, Stephanie still managed to do everything while having a magnificent personality that put us at ease. When Stephanie was our nurse, her caring and compassion made our difficult situation seem not as difficult. Nursing is a profession, but it was quite evident that not only is it a profession for Stephanie, it is a passion, a passion that drives her to be the best. Cleary she is. Stephanie is truly the best ambassador for Valley Hospital and for the nursing profession.
