My son was born at 26 weeks; during the early days of my son's life, I was on my way to the NICU, I broke down in tears in the waiting room. My husband proceeded to in and visit my son. The nurse who was taking care of my son (Stephanie Hernandez) came out to comfort me and tell me that I was going to be in the NICU for a long time waiting for my son, and it was going to be hard. She said it would be worth it in the end, and I would be the best mom to my son, and no one would be able to take that away from me.
This journey was going to stay in my heart forever and it will test me, and I will want to give up and ask why things are the way they are, but it would all be worth it. Stephanie proceeded to give me a comforting hug that I needed. My son was discharged after being in the NICU for 3 months, and Stephanie was there for me the whole way. She is such a kind friend and a great listener. The NICU is lucky to have such a great nurse.
