Stephanie is described by her coworkers on the medical/oncology unit as a "generous" and "selfless" nurse with a "warm heart". Recently, Stephanie cared for a patient that was homeless and ready to be discharged. She worked diligently with the physician and the social worker to make sure the patient had shelter and could obtain her medications. At discharge when the patient was ready to leave for the bus stop, Stephanie noticed that she was dressed only in sweatpants, a tee shirt and a hoodie. It was bitterly cold outside so Stephanie went to her locker, got her own personal coat and gave it to the patient. The patient later called the unit to express her gratitude for the warm coat. Stephanie's compassion and generosity towards this patient truly exemplifies the qualities of a DAISY Award Honoree.
