Stephanie went out and took her own money to the vending machine to make the patient happy.
I'd like to give Steph, an ICU nurse taking care of my husband, some much-appreciated recognition. He is in the ICU with pneumonia in both lungs and COVID. I was also in the hospital with COVID but had been recently discharged. My husband called and asked that I please bring his phone to him and since I was so tired I told him as soon as I felt safe to drive I would bring it. We have no family here in the area. Both our children need to keep their jobs and when they said they would come I told them no since it was COVID and knowing I would need more help down the line if my husband came home. Anyway, Stephanie heard us talking and said, "I can go and pick it up for you!" and that is just wanted she did. To me, this is above and beyond her duties as a nurse and deserves some recognition.

Always goes above and beyond for patients. Makes sure their voices are heard and that they feel at home. Once a patient wanted a drink we did not have in our kitchen and she went out and took her own money to the vending machine to make the patient happy. She is always educating families on things they are unfamiliar with.
