Stephanie Makowski has been such an incredible part of our NICU experience here at duPont. She signed up to be on E's care team knowing that I really placed a strong value in continuity of care. She tried very hard to be on schedule on big or important days to us so that I could feel more comfortable and at ease with a familiar face caring for E and helping me understand exactly what was going on and what the plan of care was.
One day I was sharing with her a favorite fruit of my older children and how since we are no longer in our home country we have not had the fruit in many months. The next time she worked, she brought in a box of that exact fruit that she had found, and someone had gifted to our children and family after hearing E's story. It was clear to me that Steph took our whole family into consideration when caring for E which I know is a goal of the staff here at Nemours. She made it much more comfortable for me to be away for a day with my other children when I knew she was on because I always knew she knew E so well.
While we have had so many incredible nurses here during our stay, Steph has certainly shined in how well she cared for E and our family as a whole.
