Today I rounded on a patient who was being discharged. Unfortunately, this patient was homeless. In caring for the patient over several days, Stephanie had learned she did not have a winter coat or boots. Stephanie sent her friend out to buy this patient a plethora of essential items to keep her warm on discharge. She had her boots on when I walked into the room and told me, "I don't know if I've ever had such nice boots!" She said it was amazing to have such great care and also know she was leaving with the resources she needed. Stephanie bought her a coat, boots, long underwear, socks, lotion and more goodies. This patient was beaming!
