It happened to be the best day of my life - I gave birth to a baby girl. I can remember waking up that morning for my scheduled induction, nervous, not knowing what to expect with my stomach in knots.
Once Stephanie entered our hospital room, she immediately put mine and my husband's minds and nerves at ease. I had a quick labor of 9 hours from start to finish, however, those 9 hours felt like an eternity at the time. I experienced the worse pain of my life, I was nauseous, and I couldn't stop shaking. Stephanie was there through every contraction with me, coaching me through the pain and breathing. She was there to hold my hand as I sat up and bent over to get my epidural and felt the pinch and pressure of the needle. She gave me her own personal hand fan to use, as I was dry heaving and clammy. She rubbed my back as I shook for hours during the transitioning phase.
Throughout our hospital stay, whether Stephanie personally had us as patients or not, she checked on me and offered any help that she could provide. On our day of discharge, instead of being eager to lighten her patient load, she took the extra time to help me with breastfeeding techniques, positioning, and latching. Things that may have seemed easy to know or accomplish, but yet is a big deal and overwhelming to a brand new mother; Stephanie was there to guide us. She easily took a very hard day and made it the best day of our lives. We will forever be thankful for our nurse Stephanie.
