While having a rough pregnancy from pre-term contractions to gestational hypertension, it quickly became very frustrating seeing different doctors and nurses multiple times a week and never getting clear answers or explanations as to what was happening to my body or my baby. One night, when in triage at L&D, Nicole really went out of her way to take the extra time to explain what was happening to me and why doctors might be saying different things. She really just took all anxiety of the unknown away. It was the first night in 7 weeks I felt at peace in knowing myself and my baby were really okay.

Fast forward 4 days, I was admitted to LD for an induction for hypertension. The moment Nicole got on shift that next day and saw I was still pregnant after 17 hours of being there- she immediately went into action mode to make sure my baby had a safe delivery without having to have a C-section. The whole day, my baby was having issues with her heart rate dropping with contractions, and paperwork was being prepped for a C-section. Within an hour of Nicole's shift, we were ready to push and deliver our baby girl. She immediately began switching my positioning to make sure our girl could move down safely. Our girl had the cord around her neck, and throughout the whole process, Nicole took a moment that would have been incredibly traumatic and scary and brought immense peace and comfort in knowing we were all going to be safe and cared for. She made sure to be real and honest about where how our baby was doing the whole time without sugarcoating it but not inciting fear in the process.

We are confident our delivery would have had a very different outcome had it not been for Nicole, and we will forever be grateful for what she did. Her presence and support had a significant impact on our family, providing much-needed comfort and stability in a challenging and scary moment. Her dedication and compassion made a world of difference to us, and we will always remember her kindness.
