Stephanie Nierode took care of my 4 year old son for his overnight after getting his tonsils out. Actually, Stephanie took care of myself and my wife too. Stephanie consistently went out of her way, constantly coming back when he needed to get out of bed, needed more popsicles for his sore throat, and more importantly, checked in with my wife and myself to make sure we were eating and drinking as well. Stephanie exemplified excellence as a nurse, and even though she had a face mask, you can see in her eyes she was always smiling, loving her job. She made sure my wife and I were calm and relaxed, as this was our first major surgery for our son. She even made sure our son was always comfortable, and she easily related to him by talking about the things he loves to see and do. Stephanie, even though she is a nurse by title, the way she worked and cared for all of us, she is now considered family. Family takes care of family.
