She offered emotional support, kindness, and humanity when we needed it most. Because of her, my papas' final days in the hospital were filled with warmth instead of fear, and for that, we are forever grateful.
I would like to recognize Stephanie for the extraordinary compassion, kindness, and love she showed my papa during the last days of his life while he was in the hospital, before transitioning to hospice care.
When you find out you are dying, the fear is overwhelming for the patient and for the family. During one of the most heartbreaking and vulnerable times of our lives, she brought comfort, peace, and a sense of safety to my dad that we will never forget. She treated him with dignity, gentleness, and genuine care, not just as a patient, but as a person. She made him feel special, loved, and seen.
My papa trusted her completely. He felt safe with her. He talked about her, smiled because of her, and found comfort in her presence. That alone speaks volumes about the kind of nurse and human being she is. As a family, watching someone care for our papa with such compassion gave us peace in a moment when there was so much pain.
She went beyond medical care. She offered emotional support, kindness, and humanity when we needed it most. Because of her, my papas' final days in the hospital were filled with warmth instead of fear, and for that, we are forever grateful.
She will always hold a special place in my heart and in my family’s hearts. My papa loved her, and we do too. She is truly a special person and embodies everything the DAISY Award represents.
