Stephanie was so compassionate to me when I felt bad. I am a 2x cancer patient.
Upon receiving the DAISY nomination for Stephanie, I connected with the patient that submitted it and received the following information regarding Steph's presence in the patient's care.
This patient, stated that everyone she experienced while in the hospital was very good and helpful but that Steph stood out. This was the second breast surgery that this patient has had, so she came into the hospital with an idea of what she could expect. She was frustrated to find out that the procedure and hospitalization is not what she was expecting and she ended up being discharged days before she ever thought she would. She stated that Steph recognized that she was frustrated with this, not feeling ready to leave and upset as it was not as she had planned. "Stephanie was very busy, yet very patient....she sat with me, she listened to me and took extra time to just be with me." Also stating Steph was always so kind and helpful.
I too agree with every characteristic that this patient has mentioned above and more. Steph always goes above and beyond to meet every need of the patients she serves. She works hard to advocate for patients when she feels that they and their wishes are not being heard by others. There is not a day that Steph does not come to work with a great spirit, always presenting this to both patients and team, always ready to work hard, positive, proactively thinking of the big picture and what she can do to make the day great while prepping for the next shift. There has been so much growth in Stephanie this last year taking on the charge role, senator, research committee member and preceptor role; she is most deserving of this award.
