It was very important to me that I was treated like a person and not just a case file, and indeed, Nurse Stephanie fit that role for me during a very anxious time for me.
I ended up having my c-section unexpectedly. Suffering from anxiety as a result of military PTSD, I was an emotional disaster upon arrival to labor and delivery. I was immediately greeted with a huge, warm smile from Nurse Stephanie. She came to my room, and every minute thereafter, she was supportive of me. From admittance care to the actual arrival of my daughter, Nurse Stephanie was confident and very reassuring to me and my needs. The care and bedside manner received from nurse Stephanie were super comforting to my distress and fear of the fifth c-section procedure. It was very important to me that I was treated like a person and not just a case file, and indeed, Nurse Stephanie fit that role for me during a very anxious time for me. My surgery went extremely well, she kept me up to date and informed. She was super attentive to me prior, during and even in recovery as I still faced challenges outside of the normal realm. Taking the time to explain details and procedural information and introducing me to team staff was very beneficial to my anxieties. Overall, I believe Nurse Stephanie is a great asset to this hospital's staff, and she is extremely deserving of the DAISY Award for her diligence in patient care, especially in labor and delivery.
