We had a seemingly long but short four days on the unit. It has been more than enough time to see that Stephanie is more than deserving of the DAISY Award. There have been many situations that we could write about when expressing the care she has shown to my husband, but ultimately, she was a huge factor in my husband graduating from the unit. On his third night, Stephanie was in the process of transferring him out of the unit when she noticed that he was not acting like his normal self. His numbers were completely normal, but Stephanie knew him as a patient well enough to consult a doctor. She went above and beyond, and this resulted in a stat CT scan being ordered, which ultimately uncovered why he had become lethargic. Beyond that, she was diligent about informing us of all results/plans and has been extremely friendly, which has made an unimaginable time seem a little less daunting. She has been so much more than a nurse to our family, and we are extremely grateful to have been cared for by her.
