August 2021 Honoree
Stephanie Tobaben, RN
Stephanie was the nurse on duty taking care of my brother. He was on comfort care and his wife, who was also on the same floor/department, had just died. Stephanie helped us make sure telling my brother went smoothly and that we had everything we needed. Later that night my wife, niece, and I were going to leave for the night, but Stephanie told us it probably would not be a good idea to leave because my brother probably would not make it through the night. She explained everything to us, she was even crying because over the past few months both my brother and sister-in-law were in their care, and we could tell that Stephanie had really come to care for our family members. Before she left her shift, she made sure the new nurse had all the details and information to assist us for the rest of the day and did not leave until everything was exactly right. Later that day my brother did pass; Stephanie's honesty and hugs were so helpful and will never be forgotten by my family.
Thank you, Stephanie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
