I had a few setbacks throughout my stay and ended up on a behavioral contract. That really had me frustrated, as I felt it was a setback. When it was time to come off the 1-1 and get ready for discharge, Stephanie T, RN on 4 Spruce, went above and beyond to help make sure I would reach my goal of coming off the 1-1 but also have a positive discharge.

She sat with me when I was anxious or teary-eyed, and helped me through the anxiety. Whether she offered meds, offered coping skills, or even read my journal when I felt I couldn't talk about it. She made sure she was available to talk to (or read my journal, then talk about it) with me. I never felt judged by her, because I was a 1-1 and needed to be watched to take a shower; she helped me get a shower and talked me through the anxiety and tears that day.

When I felt like self-harming or hearing voices, she would talk me through it. If it wasn’t for her working that weekend before I went home, I probably wouldn’t have made it home for the holiday.
