In our outpatient burn clinic, Stephanie recently cared for a patient with extensive burn injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision. The patient’s condition has left him significantly debilitated, and his family has taken on the immense responsibility of managing his daily care, including complex dressing changes. Due to these challenges, the patient had not been able to have a full shower for quite some time.

Recognizing both the physical and emotional impact of this, Steph went above and beyond in a way that is rarely, if ever, seen in our outpatient setting. She dedicated over two hours of her time to provide this patient with a full shower, restoring not only his physical comfort but also a sense of dignity and normalcy that had been missing from his life.

When thanked for her extraordinary effort, Steph humbly responded, “I would want that done for my family member if they were in this position.” This statement speaks volumes about the empathy and personal commitment she brings to her work every single day.
