We later found out and the Tech Aide hugged Stephanie and cried as this was her uncle who was “like a dad” to her.
Stephanie and her quick response helped one of her own team member’s family member be around for his family. Stephanie realized the patient was unresponsive and without any signs of life and decided there was no time to wait for assistance to get the patient out of the car, so she pushed the front seat back and jumped in the car, and began chest compressions. She then continued to do compressions as the other staff took the patient and Stephanie out of the car. The patient ended up in the ICU. Sometime during the code, Stephanie learned that one of his family members was a Tech Aide in our department. We later found out and the Tech Aide hugged Stephanie and cried as this was her uncle who was “like a dad” to her. Her mother’s only brother. The Aide and her family were worried about his future when they had to make the decision to take him off the vent. She shared with me recently her uncle up, walking with a walker and talking. She was very grateful for all that was done for her and her family.
