Stephanie Walleck, BSN, RN
I needed urgent surgery due to an ectopic pregnancy, an experience that was physically painful, emotionally devastating, and overwhelmingly frightening. In the middle of all the fear, Stephanie was the nurse who brought calm, clarity, and compassion into the room when I needed it most. She was there the first time I came in, during the scariest part of the entire ordeal. The moment she walked in, she had this incredible way of making me feel seen and supported.
She explained everything honestly, clearly, and helped me understand what was happening to my body. She treated me with respect during a time when I felt vulnerable. Her integrity and knowledge helped me feel safe in a situation where nothing felt certain.
What truly makes her extraordinary is that her care didn’t end that day. At my 10-day follow-up. Something I was anxious about, she was my nurse again. The second I realized, my anxiety eased. Felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders; I suddenly felt comfortable being back.
She spoke to me on a personal level, not just as a patient on her schedule. She took the time to check in on how I was coping, emotionally and physically; her words brought me more relief than she probably realizes. She listened, understood, and she helped me feel like I wasn’t alone in what I was going through.
She embodies every value of the DAISY Award- integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence. Her skill is undeniable, but her heart is what truly sets her apart. She cared for me during one of the hardest experiences of my life and continued to support me during recovery with the same warmth & dedication.
She didn’t just provide medical care-she made me feel safe, valued, genuinely cared for. She is an exceptional nurse. I'm deeply grateful for the comfort and strength she gave me during such a painful time. She absolutely deserves the DAISY Award.

I went into labor after my night shift and was exhausted. Stephanie was warm, caring, and inviting. She ensured my husband and I were comfortable during our stay. She ensured my pain was under control and was so attentive to me and my son’s safety.
I truly felt well taken care of. I appreciated how she explained what she was doing so my husband and I could actively be a part of our care plan and ask questions to ensure we were in agreement.
She also took the most amazing photos of us meeting our son, and they are pictures I will treasure for a lifetime. I’m so grateful to her and the L&D team for making this stay one of the best days of my life.
